Trip to Mackinaw Island
Tuesday, June 24th
9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am
Mackinaw Island, Michigan
www.mackinawisland.com
We will depart our Shepler's shuttle bus at WSP at 9:30am, 10:30am or 11:30am for a short ride to Mackinaw City. Then board the Ferry Boat at the Mackinaw Island Ferry Dock; and ride by boat to this enchanting island. Set back to a time when horses were the only transportation, walking was in fashion, you will have the option to visit the Historic Grand Hotel - there is a fee to enter the grounds (the movie Somewhere in Time staring the late Christopher Reeves was filmed here).
If you would rather ride a rented bicycle around the flat 8 mile road you will experience a 360 degree view of the water. A carriage ride or a rented horse will give you yet another view of the island both are easily arranged at the island dock. But, if you would rather take a nice walk through the main street you will experience the shops, a taste of Mackinac Island Fudge, and a chance to pick up a memory of the island. Just up the hill overlooking the yacht harbor is the historic Fort which is available for touring, and many historical churches to visit.
There is a lot to do and see on Mackinac Island that is free of charge, but we know that you will probably buy a T-shirt and the famous FUDGE. We would ask you set your watches to take the RETURN boats to Mackinac City at 2:00pm, 3:00pm or the last 4:00pm Shepler Ferry Boat from the Island and there will be a shuttle bus ready to return to WSP.
NOTE: For those of you who are staying in Mackinac City at a Hotel, Please purchase your tickets on our Website to get the discount. You can join us at the Shepler Ferry Docks for the 10am, 11am, or 12noon Ferry Boat departures, and return in time to meet us at WSP for dinner.

An afternoon at sea, exploring on Lake Michigan and seeing the famed Lighthouses.

Bus Tour of eastern Upper Peninsula

www.soolocks.com
ATTENTION: THE UPPER PENINSULA OF MICHIGAN IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SPOTS TO VISIT IN MICHIGAN. WE ONLY HAVE 16 PEOPLE SIGNED UP FOR THIS TRIP. This all day Bus Tour of the attractions in nearby Michigan's Upper Peninsula will take us over the 5 mile long Mackinaw Suspension Bridge on to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan where Lake Superior meets the St. Marys River the site of the Soo Locks. Michigan's Iron Ore Freighters use these locks to go east on their journey to the Atlantic Ocean. It is a magnificant site to see one of these enormous ships enter a "just fits" lock without so much as a pause. We will stop for lunch and continuing on toward Whitefish Point the site of the sinking of the Frieghter Edmund Fitzgerald Museum. We learn the power and fury that deep and ice cold Lake Superior can have on watercraft sailing in its waters. Then home to enjoy another dinner together to share stories and memories of the day.
