History of the FamilyThis album contains a few early photographs of our ancestors. The Ohngren Family traces its roots when Jonas and Henrick Henrickson, along with their brother Pehr, filed with the Swedish Government to change their name to Ohngren. Shortly after that John and his wife Maria Christina (Sjoland) and their two daughters Katherine (Carlson) and Alma (Kissock) emergrated to America because of the promise of large tracts of Free Land for farming in Minnesota USA. Shortly after they were settled, Henry Ohngren and his wife Matilda Soldjun with their two sons John and Ole and their two daughters Hilda (Johnson) and Carrie (Kissinger) sold their farm in Ornsoldvik to finance their immegration to Park Rapids, Minnesota USA.

1970 Reunion Wilderness State ParkThis Album has a few snamshots from the First Family Reunion in 1970 at Wilderness State Park in Michigan USA. The reunion was prompted by a visit to America by two daughters of a brother left behind in Sweden, Per Ohngran. His daughters were by two different wives, Stena a daughter by his first wife Britta; and Dahlia a daughter by his second wife Jenny. These two women with their husbands Almar Lindstrom and Sven Bagge, were traveling with Dahlia and Sven's daughter Karin. They had been contacted by Duane & Pat Cote' during their 6 month residence in Sweden in 1966. After many letters back and forth between the cousins, the Swedes came to visit in 1970.

1992 Family Reunion Las Vegas NV, USAThis album captures the fun we all had at the Second family reunion in 1992. It was organized by cousins Rita (Ohngren) Cummins and Duane Cote'. The venue was Las Vegas, NV Rita's home town with the reunion banquet in a downtown hotel. 4 visitors came from Sweden to participate with over 90 from the USA. Rita and her husband Al, hosted a reception at their home for everyone.

1996 Family Reunion Ornskoldvik SwedenThis album contains memories of our third family reunion this one in Sweden. Sven & Dahlia Bagge and family hosted the 1996 Family Reunion in Ornskoldvik Sweden. We were honored to a delicious Smorgsbord by the local town and visited the cemetary and original homestead of our ancestors. Sven also treated us to a Bus tour of the region, and a Mid-Summer Celebration. 29 Americans traveled to Sweden for this event, with a like number of Swedes. For many of us this was our first experience with the midnight sun. The first photograph in this album was taken at midnight.

2000 Family Reunion Park Rapids, MN USAThis album was of our fourth family reunion the site of the first homes built by John and Henry Ohngren when they arrived in America. This reunion was planned by local Minnesota residents Linda Cote', and Joann Hanson who arranged for a hotel, golf outing, and picnic for the family. We visited the homesteads of our family ancestors in Park Rapids and Bemidji, Minnesota USA. Some even found the Mississippi River and walked accross.

2004 Family Reunion Gotland SwedenThis album is of our fifth family reunion we went back to Sweden for another runion there. Stellan Nilsson and family treated us to the vacation resort island of Gotland, Sweden. There were lots of fun things to do at our location. Trips to the walled city of Visby, shopping trips, and a Golf outing at the local course were included. 16 Americans participated in this reunion at which we were vastly outnumbered by the Swedes. Our reunion activity has now reached the point where we are almost introducing Swedish relatives to other Swedish relatives who didn't realize they were related. One of the fun activities we all enjoyed was the family band that our Swedish relatives organized for all of our enjoyment. Some of our relatives with professional Soccer careers had a chance to demonstrate their prowess, as well.
